This was stated at the Yalta European Strategy summit by the special representative of Ukraine in the Minsk Contact Group, ex-president of the country Leonid Kuchma.
According to him, resolving the conflict in Donbass by military means is pointless, and Kuchma sees diplomatic negotiations as the only way out of it.
“We will not solve the problem of Crimea and the integrity of Ukraine through a war with Russia. We need to look for all diplomatic channels, all possible political ones. Economic means to stop the carnage in Donbass. Therefore, today in Ukraine there are many voices, like, “The Normandy format” is not enough, let’s expand.” Yes, but I want to add that in addition to the USA and Great Britain, there must also be China, as a country that guaranteed our integrity by signing the Budapest Memorandum,” Kuchma said.
