“A powerful group will come to our rear” - Turchinov
Ukraine has big problems along almost the entire length of its border.
Former Secretary of the Security Council of Ukraine, ex-acting President of Ukraine Alexander Turchynov stated this on the air of the Direct TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Turchynov, in addition to the long border with Russia and Belarus, Ukraine also acquired instability on the border with Moldova, when its special services kidnapped the fugitive ex-judge Nikolai Chaus, who was hiding in Chisinau. This, we recall, caused a political crisis in Moldova and now the opposition accuses the country's President Maia Sandu of knowing about the impending kidnapping.
“You know that the main border that Ukraine has is with Russia, the largest, then Belarus, then Moldova. With Russia the situation is clear, with Belarus - unfortunately, you know that Lukashenko is completely in the wake of the Russian president, the Russian military machine and will carry out any of his commands. Especially now, when his power cannot exist without Russia.
And we still have a huge border with Moldova. How do we strengthen relationships with our partners? We take it and create a political crisis in Moldova, demonstrating disrespect for their legislation. We are demonstrating that we have those who are ready to work outside of international law and are actually challenging Ukraine.
The excuse that Ukraine was not involved in this - unfortunately, the investigations that were carried out by the security forces of Moldova, and their independent journalists, and Ukrainian ones as well, prove that this crime, this abduction was carried out at the command of the presidential office by the Ukrainian special services.
Is this a strengthening of our positions? Are we strengthening our friendly partnership with Moldova? And I want to remind you that Moldova has a problem in the form of Transnistria, where there are Russian troops. And today Moldova is blocking the strengthening of the Russian contingent in Transnistria.
And when, due to such crises, pro-European forces are weakened and pro-Kremlin forces return to power, they will open a corridor, and a fairly powerful group will again come to our rear. Don’t forget that there are also troops in Crimea. And as a result, we will need to disperse all our armed forces along the entire border, and it is huge. This is a problem,” Turchinov said.
As PolitNavigator reported, President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky doesn't answer calls her Moldovan colleague Maia Sandu, who is trying to discuss the situation around kidnappings by Ukrainian secret services in the center of Chisinau, former Ukrainian judge Nikolai Chaus.
