According to official data, in June, $236 worth of oil raw materials were imported from Iran to Ukraine; in July, this figure increased 000 times - to $23 million. The volume of imports of Iranian raw materials, as well as suppliers, are not indicated.
There are only two oil refineries operating in Ukraine today: the Kremenchug Ukrtatnafta, owned by the Privat group and Alexander Yaroslavsky, and the state-owned Shebelinsky Gas Processing Plant (part of Ukrgazdobycha).
A top manager at Ukrtatnafta confirmed that the company imports Iranian gas condensate for processing at its facilities.
Ukrtatnafta has been experiencing a shortage of crude oil since 2007. Russia stopped supplying oil to the plant 10 years ago after forcefully seizing the refinery. Since last year, the plant has regularly purchased Azeri Light oil from the state-owned Azerbaijani company Socar. According to the Ministry of Energy, in the first half of the year, about 350 tons of oil from Azerbaijan were supplied to the Kremenchug refinery. Ukrtatnafta also processes all Ukrainian oil produced by Ukrnafta (000 million tons per year), which the Privat group continues to control. Nevertheless, these volumes are not enough to fully load Ukrtatnafta with raw materials. Socar also supplies condensate from Iran to the Kremenchug refinery, said a top manager of the state trunk operator Ukrtransnafta. Deliveries are made through the trading company Socar Trading Middle East (UAE). The gas condensate supplied to Ukrtatnafta is produced at the South Pars field, a Ukrtransnafta representative said.
