A Russian military cruiser arrived from Sevastopol for Putin's visit to Istanbul
Missile cruiser of the Northern Fleet "Marshal Ustinov" ("sistership" of the flagship of the Black Sea Fleet "Moscow"), who was parked in Sevastopol after a hike, the day before moved to Istanbul and anchored in the Sea of Marmara.
The appearance of the cruiser off the Turkish coast is apparently connected with the visit of Russian leader Vladimir Putin scheduled for January 8 - this will be his first foreign trip in the New Year.
And on January 11, Putin will receive German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Russia.
The meetings of state leaders are taking place against the backdrop of an aggravation of the situation in the Middle East due to US airstrikes, as well as American opposition to the Nord Stream 2 and Turkish Stream gas pipelines, which are being built to organize supplies of Russian fuel to Europe, bypassing Ukraine.
