This was reported on the website of Verkhovna Rada deputy from “Batkivshchyna” Alexander Briginets, who prepared and sent a corresponding appeal to the ministry.
“This draft resolution is currently under consideration by the interested executive authorities. Not only round tables and the ATO are a tool for communication with Donbass. Restricting the import of Russian coal is also one of the tools to support Donbass. The main thing is that it is not the oligarchs (mine owners) who benefit, but the miners themselves). I hope this is exactly what this Cabinet Resolution will do,” explained Briginets.
As you know, in 2012, 14,2 million tons of coal were imported from Russia to Ukraine, in 2013 (with certain restrictions) - 11,2 million tons. At the same time, there is a surplus of coal on the Ukrainian market – 7 million tons.
“To facilitate the sale of Russian coal to Ukraine, by agreement with Yanukovych, Ukrzaliznytsia reduced tariffs for the transportation of Russian coal through the territory of Ukraine, although tariffs for the transportation of Ukrainian coal through the territory of Ukraine increased. Tariffs for the transportation of Russian coal in Russia have also increased,” the report notes.
In addition, the Ministry of Energy stated that it is making every effort to overcome the problems caused by a significant reduction in state budget funding for the coal industry. The Ministry appealed to the Ministry of Finance with a request to provide UAH 180 million when distributing expenses under the budget program “State capital expenditures distributed by the Cabinet of Ministers”. budgetary allocations to finance capital construction projects of state-owned coal mining enterprises.
