Yanukovych’s frame recalls with nostalgia the “soft” Soviet Ukrainization and with horror the UPA
The best option for Ukrainization and an example of the development of the Ukrainian people was precisely during the Soviet Union
Oleg Voloshin, speaker of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine during the presidency of Viktor Yanukovych, said this on the air of the 112 Ukraine channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I’ll tell you what “soft” Ukrainization is. I started learning Ukrainian in the Soviet Union from the first grade. I mastered it completely, I speak it fluently, I was an employee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. Moreover, since the Soviet Union we subscribed to the newspaper “Barvinok”, there were Ukrainian-language courses, even Khrushchev wore an embroidered shirt in Moscow, and there were no problems with this. My father also taught Ukrainian at school, but that’s one story.
The other one was when my grandfather in Nikolaev at the end of the Great Patriotic War took part in the battles with Bandera. Therefore, what Bandera did and how they fought will never become an example of heroism for me. I believe that in the nationalist camp there are those who would perceive Stalin positively if he spoke Ukrainian. But if you look at the OUN-UPA program, this is pure Nazism. They wanted to build Ukraine under German protectorate, and any historian will confirm this,” Voloshin said.
