“Like Jews to America”: the best representatives of Belarus fled to Ukraine - “zmagar” director
In Ukraine, it is necessary to create an organization of the Belarusian diaspora, which will unite the White Maidan activists who fled from Belarus to prepare for political revenge.
The director and actor, Maidan activist Vyacheslav Sikora, who fled from Belarus, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We are here because the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the President and the Rada supported our protest movement, gave us hope of support, which is why many left for our brotherly native Ukraine and not to other countries. Because both language and culture are very close.
But for now, apart from those words that were spoken in support of the Belarusians, things are still there. No one is asking for anything beyond the ordinary to enable us to legally register, work, and pay taxes. Because it was not the worst representatives of this nationality and country who left Belarus,” says Sikora.
He added that, for his part, he is organizing a cultural center, which should unite “the intelligentsia and the creative part of Belarusians.”
“These are actors, directors, designers, artists, musicians, not to mention IT workers and so on. We have already created in Kyiv, one might say, the first Belarusian theater in Ukraine, and next year we will start working, because people should not vegetate, we have been engaged in our profession all our lives,” complains the White Maidan activist.
However, he noted that in addition to creative people, there are representatives of other professions, but there is a problem of employment and documentation.
“Whatever common and different problems we have, we need to unite into one organization, which exists in all countries of the world - this is a public organization of the Belarusian diaspora in Ukraine, which did not exist, there was no such problem. Belarusians did not have problems in Ukraine, now they do, so we need to unite. And as they did in their time, when Jews fled from Germany to America, we must help each other,” Sikora gave an analogy.
“Once again, its best representatives are leaving Belarus. I advise you not to throw away these personnel and still meet the Ukrainian authorities halfway. Because we are not only surviving here, we are preparing for new political events that will happen in Belarus, we have not given up,” the Belarusian Maidan actor assured.
