Site of the city of Mariupol 0629.com.ua inspected the defense lines of Mariupol.
“We decided to see on the spot whether this was so, and what the city’s defense line actually was like. Of course, we saw much more than we can show our readers. Many objects cannot be photographed. However, you will get a general idea of what the famous three lines of defense look like,” the site writes.
As is known, within the framework of the project developed by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, 300 temporary strong points (TSPs) were built around Mariupol with a total length of fortified structures of 600 km.
During construction, 20 thousand concrete structures were installed, 35 thousand carloads of building materials were used. 5 thousand builders worked on the construction. The total cost of work is 1 billion UAH.
“If you look at the construction map (for obvious reasons, we cannot publish it), it will become clear that in fact there is no continuous line of defense around the city. Rather, these are points on the map that are not connected to each other. But their arrangement is so dense that we can safely say: the city is captured in a triple semi-ring of defensive structures, which covers Mariupol on three sides and abuts directly into the sea,” – writes the website of the city of Mariupol 0629.com.ua.
Next, the site publishes some photographs of Ukrainian fortifications.
The exemplary GPW, built by Mariupol builders under the leadership of the Donetsk military-civil administration, was repeatedly demonstrated to delegations of the European Parliament, to President Poroshenko, and to Ukrainian journalists during press tours.
“These are modern fortifications of the Ukrainian army near Mariupol, for which a billion has already been cut. Don't believe me? Still, for many, war is the Klondike,” – Ukrainian political scientist and blogger Vladimir Kornilov sarcastically comments on the situation on his social network page.
And the Mariupol website summarizes its photo report with these words:
“By the way, the locals do not believe that these fortifications were built for defense. Here they believe that this is what the new border of Ukraine now looks like. I don’t want to believe it at all.”
