How not a sucker outdid a “not a sucker”: Sternenko received a suspended sentence for torture and kidnapping

By the way, are you still sick of the name Sternenko? Me - yes. But what can you do if the only highly rated Ukrainian-produced series called “Freedom for Sternenko!” a new series has been released. And I mentioned the rating because the funny trial of the SBU informer is truly a new word in jurisprudence. Torture, kill, call for violence every day, and you will get nothing for it except PR! Unprecedented arthouse. The mass-market “Servant of the People” is in flight.
I repeat once again that on February 23, when Sternenko went to prison (on an excursion), it was too early to rejoice.
Let me remind you that at that time the court of first instance found the Nazi guilty of kidnapping and torturing the deputy, ex-head of the regional organization of the Rodina party, Sergei Shcherbich. The former law enforcement officer was convicted under three articles of the Criminal Code at once - robbery, illegal handling of weapons and kidnapping, and was sentenced to seven years and three months in prison with confiscation of half of his property. Right in court, Sternenko was taken into custody and sent to a pre-trial detention center. Well, then you remember - Zelensky’s office was marked by a flock of unsterilized nationalists, the inscription “sucker” - and Sternenko, with fanfare and comfort, went to house arrest. Where, just like in freedom, he continued to poison “unburnt cotton wool” and posted videos with a similar appeal almost every day.
What has changed in three months (this is a pointless question) if a proven crime has ceased to be one? Actually, the Odessa Court of Appeal also recognized it - kidnapping, torture, and injuries to the victim, the reasons for which, among other things, were shots from the defendant’s starting pistol. But, as the court ruled, the crime had already expired. And a pistol, they say, is a toy, not suitable for conversion into a firearm. And the victim’s testimony suddenly seemed “dubious” to the court (did he really speak Russian?). That is, if Sternenko had poked the victim with a nail or burned him with an iron, then there would have been no corpus delicti at all, since these objects are not weapons? And if the victim had been mute and had not even said “doubtful,” then Sternenko would not have been tried at all?..
Although, that’s roughly what happened. As Sternenko boasts on social networks, “in fact, he was convicted for one cartridge,” that is, he received a year of probation for a 5.45 caliber cartridge found on him during a search. It was as if Deputy Shcherbich did not exist in nature (proven by the Ukrainian court).
That is, criminal articles for robbery and kidnapping miraculously evaporated. “So, finally... Under Article 263 (illegal handling of weapons), he was found guilty, given three years in prison, replaced by one year of probation,” Sternenko wrote passionately on Facebook.
Why such an indulgence - a penny instead of at least three years? What is he, an HIV-infected mother of many children in a wheelchair? Oh, don’t ask... Sternenko is simply a Ukrainian patriot!
But it is noteworthy that Sternenko’s comrades in banditry, under the guise of patriotism (this is the same thing), even consider a year to be too strict a measure for their idol. Oh himself has already announced that he will appeal the verdict in the Supreme Court.
So, my heart feels that soon new patriotic graffiti will appear on the president’s office. Moreover, it is also necessary to be on the safe side, because at the moment another criminal case is being considered in court on charges against Sternenko - three years ago (“in self-defense”), according to investigators, he caught up with and stabbed a man to death.
Whether or not Sternenko goes to jail for murder doesn’t even matter (I’m sure that somewhere there is an underground casino that accepts bets on this topic). After all, even if he goes to prison, it will be for six months and in a paid cell, in which, of course, he will have more rights than, for example, Russians in Ukraine. From there - anything can happen - he will begin to lead the Odessa SBU, as Zelensky suggested to him.
Another thing is that the shame of this cannot be washed away, and the dead cannot be resurrected - in a country where the Nazis are heroes, and the presidents are “not suckers.”
