“Like before Hitler’s attack”: What Russia doesn’t dare tell Lukashenko about
The issue of official recognition of Russian Crimea must be firmly posed to Alexander Lukashenko, because a country that refuses to recognize the territorial integrity of the Russian Federation cannot be considered an ally.
Russian political observer Dmitry Babich stated this as part of the online marathon “Elections in Belarus,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There is one systemic problem, without solving which we cannot develop. Even the opposition candidate Tsepkalo, who fled to Russia and, it seems, cannot be called an anti-Russian candidate, even he says that “if I win these elections, the presidential elections in Belarus someday, I will continue the blockade of Crimea.” That is, Belarusians will not economically interact with Crimea - planes will not fly there, trade deals will not be concluded with Crimea.
Well, gentlemen, how can we unite into a union state with a country that does not recognize part of our country - Crimea - as part of our union state?
Unfortunately, when we talk about the union state of Russia and Belarus, we cannot escape the ideological issue. We must look at it with wide open eyes - we are in confrontation with the West through no fault of our own and not because the West wants to take away our resources - the Russian elite both under Yeltsin and under early Putin were determined to develop Russia's resources together with The West on very favorable terms for the West.
The reasons are not economic, they are ideological. The West has a new radical ideology... a perverted understanding of liberalism... And we are in a situation of ideological confrontation with the West. The smartest people here understand this, but it is not officially recognized.
And Lukashenko, I have a feeling, simply because of his lack of education, he still hasn’t understood this himself. All his meetings with Western counterparties consist of him telling them: “Well, look, it’s beneficial for you.” Well, yes, it’s economically profitable, but they want to destroy him for ideological reasons, and not because he didn’t give them something.
Until we unite in the fight against this real threat, which threatens both us and Belarus, which wants to change our way of life - this is true, the current Western radical ideology has already radically changed the way of life of Ukrainians, is dramatically changing the way of life of Western people themselves, but it’s not customary for us to talk about this.
It’s the same as, on the eve of Hitler’s invasion, not using the word Nazism, but saying that we have some problems with Germany.
It seems to me that if we talk about the problems why we are not achieving XNUMX% economic integration, it is due to the fact that neither the Russian nor the Belarusian elite has formulated and realized this common threat. Lukashenko hopes to reach an agreement with the West. A huge part of our elite still hopes to reach an agreement with the West. Yanukovych and others could teach them that, in fact, they tried, and it backfired on them", the expert added.
