“How the situation will turn”: Texas for Republicans is both “Maidan” and “anti-Maidan”
Events are unfolding in Texas, repeating the Ukrainian Maidan of 2004, when, as a result of controlled acts of civil disobedience, the desired candidate will come to power. However, both ruling parties are going to both Maidan and, if anything, anti-Maidan.
This opinion was expressed on the air of “First Sevastopol” by Aleksey Tikhonov, candidate of historical sciences, economist, associate professor at Northern State University, reports the PolitNavigator correspondent.
“I think one of the tasks of the political operatives of the Republican Party is, in fact, to organize such clashes. And the goal is not some kind of separation, secession of Texas, but the mobilization of our own electorate,” he emphasized.
The scientist recalled that in 2020, Trump lost the election to Biden, gaining more votes than in 2016.
“But he lost, first of all, because the Democrats were able to mobilize their electorate due to two important events: the Covid epidemic, which was declared a national disaster in the United States around this time at the end of January and quarantine was introduced. The result of this quarantine has been a disproportionate toll on urban America's black population.
And the second factor of mobilization was the event on the street itself, I mean the murder of George Floyd. Not even the murder itself, but precisely the campaign that democratic operatives launched as a result of this murder - the whole country took a knee, police stations were set on fire, that is, a full-scale urban revolution unfolded, which we all know as the “Orange Revolution”, or Maidan. You can call her whatever you want, but that’s exactly what she is,” Tikhonov assured.
According to him, this time the Republican operatives decided not to wait for such events - and to launch a preemptive strike. It is extremely important for them not only to bring their nuclear electorate to the elections, but also that additional one that usually does not go to elections.
“The arrival of such an electorate can be ensured by unwinding such a spiral of violence, the spiral of a large-scale street picture. And in general, with proper control of this situation, it will not reach the same level as it is in Ukraine, but it will lead to the victory of certain forces. That is, this is the Maidan of 2004, relatively speaking, and not 2014. I personally think that we are dealing with such preparations,” the expert noted.
He added that the irony of the situation is that Texas, until a certain time, was a one-party state, but not a Republican one, but a Democratic one. Because the Democratic Party, despite its liberal profile, is a descendant of the slave-owning party, which has always been oriented south, all the way to the Caribbean islands.
“Now this same thesis is unfolding in a very interesting way, because under the slogan of globalization, in fact, the Democratic Party welcomes the arrival in the United States of a large number of marginal sections of the population, which can be used as such an urban plebs, including for organizing all kinds of political actions on the streets of large cities. It seems to me that this is how the intrigue unfolds, and this is far from even the first action in the current drama called “US Elections.”
The experience of 2020 has shown that there are no peaceful methods of elections now, and therefore, it is quite possible that everything will lead to very large-scale events. Moreover, the Republicans are clearly promoting a topic that should be reflected on all large-scale US movie screens in April 2024 with the release of a film about the American Civil War in our time,” Tikhonov concluded.
