universal – used in all vehicles.

Therefore, before renting a car, you must indicate the availability of special seats for children and their number. Exceptions are cases if the installation of the required seats is impossible or the car is a two-seater.

Before you start driving a rented car, you should make sure that the car seat is fastened securely enough. Do not install a rear-facing seat on a passenger seat that is equipped with an airbag.

Rules of transportation of children

There are strict requirements and rules for transporting children in cars. Transportation is prohibited without the use of special restraint systems that are secured according to the height and weight of the child. Most countries require the use of a child car seat up to 12 years of age or 150 centimeters in height. Also, children should not be left in the car alone, without adults, even for a short time. Until the age of four, it is recommended to carry children rear-facing.

Depending on the age and weight of small passengers, car seats are divided into groups:

“0” – up to one year and weighing up to ten kilograms, the presence of internal seat belts;

“0+” – assumes the child’s weight is up to thirteen kilograms and the seat is installed facing the rear of the car;

“1” – installed for passengers over one year old and weighing 9-18 kg;

“2” – car seats are intended for older children, from three to seven years old, the height of the backrest is adjustable;

“3” – used for children under 12 years of age and have a greater number of additional options, a detachable backrest, and a limiter for the upper strap of the car seat belt.
