Like during the German occupation: “elders” will appear in Ukrainian villages again
The Verkhovna Rada supported the bill that would introduce the position of headman in Ukraine.

4742 people’s deputies voted for bill No. 271 “On amendments to certain legislative acts of Ukraine on the status of the village headman,” Espresso.TV reports.
The headman is elected by the residents of villages and towns by secret ballot.
The term of office of the headman is five years, except in cases of early termination of his powers. At the same time, the possibility of recalling the headman from office on popular initiative is provided. The term of office of the elders begins after they take the oath.
The law also defines the powers of the headman. It is assumed that he is involved in monitoring the use of communal property located on the territory of the corresponding Starostinsky district.
Let us recall that the last time in the history of Ukraine the positions of “elders” were introduced during the German occupation during the Great Patriotic War.
