It won’t be the same as before: Scholz rejected the very idea of returning to pre-war relations with Russia
There can be no talk of returning to what was in relations between Germany and Russia before the Russian special operation in Ukraine.
This was stated by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, adding that the Moscow SVO is “a deep blow to international relations,” CNN reports.
“War is a matter of long-term change that will shape international relations for a very, very long time,” Scholz told a news conference on the sidelines of the G7 summit in the Bavarian Alps in southern Germany.
“Our relationship with Russia cannot go back to the time before Russia invaded Ukraine,” he added.
Despite uncertainty about how the world will change as a result of the war, GXNUMX members must “embrace these changes” by “standing together and working together in close contact and in a spirit of trust,” the German chancellor said.
“And this is what unites us: democracy, the rule of law and respect for human rights,” says Scholz.
