Ukraine is being used by the Americans as a tool to blackmail Russia in order to prevent Moscow from further rapprochement with China.
Russian political commentator Maxim Yusin stated this on air on the Internet channel “Capital”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
The analyst believes that it is from this point of view that the visit to Moscow of US Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland should be viewed.
“In this brewing geopolitical battle between Beijing and Washington, Moscow’s sympathies are most likely on the side of Beijing. Washington understands this, but they strive to ensure that these sympathies do not result in any specific significant support.
To do this, we must not irritate Moscow. In many areas, the Americans have the opportunity to irritate it, but the main pain point is Ukraine, because of which our relations with the States have deteriorated so radically.
Here, among other things, Nuland, who is also responsible for the Ukrainian dossier, came to discuss Ukraine, but not only. Her first working day in Moscow was devoted to a meeting with Sergei Ryabkov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. And Ukraine was practically not discussed there, because Ryabkov is not about Ukraine. Other problematic aspects of Russian-American relations were discussed,” Yusin said.
