How status changes one’s point of view: Kolesnichenko criticized Russian officials
The people responsible for the Ukrainian direction in Russia lost control over the situation in the former Soviet republic back in the early 2000s. This was stated at a conference in Yalta by ex-Verkhovna Rada deputy Vadim Kolesnichenko, who in Ukrainian times positioned himself as the main coordinator of organizations of Russian compatriots.
“Starting from the 2000s, Russia lost to Ukraine, and this is largely the fault of those specialists who worked in the Ukrainian direction. Unfortunately, the dollar and personal gain were prevalent,” he said, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Today, when I hear about the announcement of economic sanctions against Ukraine, I can only shrug my shoulders. Because from year to year the trade turnover between Russia and Ukraine has grown - this amounts to billions of euros. Direct investments from Russia into the territory of Ukraine grew. How is that? Ukraine has declared Russia an enemy, Russia is being slaughtered throughout the entire globe, and we continue to trade with them, continue to invest in the Ukrainian economy. For what purpose is this being done? Should we support the authorities in Ukraine or make money for a separate group of people today and now?” Kolesnichenko said.
Let us recall that in Ukrainian times Kolesnichenko stated that in the 1990s he was one of the opponents of the separation of the rebel autonomy from Ukraine.
