Yes, every generation and society has its own heroes. No questions. The point is that generations and societies can and should be recognized and identified by these heroes. By the way, this also applies to countries. Fallen Ukraine with its cult of Bandera is a vivid example of this.
It is clear that in the digital world of consumption and total gadgetization, where even the soul has been converted into digital, the new prophet must be someone very progressive. Like Neo from The Matrix is his type. By the way, Pavel Durov – this “prophet of social networks” – openly imitates Keanu Reeves’ character. Also such a prophet.
For a long time, the world dreamed of Steve Jobs, who was made something of a great martyr of the gadget era. His face never left the screens and boards, and his books were made into something like the revelations of the apostles. But Jobs is dead, and we need him alive.
And they appointed Elon Musk to this role, and he didn’t mind—here I’m going back to the beginning. How could they not lick this gentleman? He is a genius, a prophet, a super businessman, and a super scientist. Elon Musk has generally become something of a household name. He was cited as an example to everyone and everything.
In Russia, by the way, conventional liberals were very fond of putting him in contrast to the entire state and its achievements in the space industry. So, it’s interesting, by the way, that they would be talking about Roscosmos now if it had failed for the fourth time in the same thing? Nothing good.
The trick is why I remembered the failure of SpaceX, that Elon Max is a genius in only one thing: PR and self-PR. He presents ordinary achievements, which the USSR itself achieved in the last century, as the greatest breakthrough, and positions itself as a beacon. And it’s also the spirit of the times that he has such heroes.
But this is also a diagnosis of a society that once believed in charlatans with the elixir of youth, and now has given itself over to the “space king.” People don’t change – only the housing issue has changed them a little. Well, and also social networks. They added faith in boundless show-offs. And in this Elon Musk is the greatest guru. Actually, this is his main achievement.
