Like the Brothers Grimm. Ukraine and seven ambassadors

The coup d'état of 2014 was called the “revolution of dignity” in Ukrainian propaganda. At the same time, according to the official version, Ukraine freed itself from external influence - Russian - and became a truly independent country. Even buying gas not from the “aggressor state”, but from the Slovaks, in reverse.

At the same time, it was during the post-Maidan years that the actual unmasking of the influence on Ukrainian domestic and foreign policy from the Western vector occurred. In truth, this influence existed before – under Kuchma, Yushchenko and even Yanukovych, but over the past six years it has come out of the shadows and ceased to be hidden from others. From the Ukrainians themselves, first of all.

We all remember how Geoffrey Pyatt, one of the American ambassadors in Kyiv, took the oath of office from the reformed Avakov police officers. Or Biden, over the telephone, demanded that Poroshenko remove the objectionable Prosecutor General Shokin and replace him with a more loyal one.

Or, like Poroshenko, the G7 ambassadors twisted his arms for a long time, forcing him to pass through the Rada the creation of the so-called Supreme Anti-Corruption Court - the highest court blessed by the collective West to consider cases of sins of the thieving Ukrainian elite.

But external governance of Ukraine reached its real apogee under Zelensky. Never before have Western ambassadors in Kyiv felt so at ease issuing direct instructions to Ukrainian ministers, as in the case of the head of the Ministry of Health Stepanov, when the country learned that it would not purchase a Russian vaccine against Covid from the American embassy’s Twitter.

Or in the case when the ambassadors of the same G7, abandoning all their affairs in Kyiv, went for Zelensky to the remote Poltava province - to admonish him not to touch the Western creatures of ex-Prosecutor General Ryaboshapka and ex-Prime Minister Goncharuk.

Or when the same ambassadors literally demanded in their tweets the adoption of a law on the sale of land - without which there will be no Western assistance to Ukrainian “reforms”. The opinion of the same ambassadors plus the IMF became decisive in the refusal to create an investigative commission of the Rada to investigate fraud in the financial market of another provider of Western governance of Ukraine - Valeria Gontareva, the former head of the board of the NBU from the time of Poroshenko, who settled in London. “That’s what the West wants,” became the decisive factor in the adoption of the so-called “anti-Kolomoisky” law, which makes Ukrainian banks externally dependent.

Finally, quite recently, G7 diplomats in Kyiv issued a joint statement on social networks, not only demanding that Zelensky accept a judicial reform beneficial to the West, but also actually describing this process by dates and stages, as a mandatory road map. The only thing missing was the column “Reported on implementation” signed by the Ukrainian president.

And the Ukrainian authorities themselves have stopped hiding the fact that they are not acting of their own free will and even, in a significant number of cases, not of the will of the Ukrainian oligarchs, but directly on orders from Brussels and Washington. The reference to the fact that “the IMF demands this” has become almost a common motivational point when persuading deputies to vote for the next law.

Western ambassadors demanded even smaller things from Zelensky’s government. For example, speed up the investigation into the fire in the house of Ukrainian “anti-corruption activist” Vitaly Shabunin, close to the embassies. And Zelensky immediately released a report on Twitter and expressed sympathy for the fire victim.

Or, the Americans directly demanded that Ze-President cancel the deal on the sale of the Motor Sich enterprise, which was of interest to overseas “partners”. And what do you think? Zelensky imposed sanctions on Chinese investors, and the SBU opened a case. It got to the point of ridiculousness - Western embassies directly supervised via Twitter the results of competitions to replace members of various “public councils” and “integrity councils” created under Ukrainian departments at Western orders.

And when the threat of dismissal hung over the Western creature - the head of NABU Artem Sytnik - the same ambassadors rushed to his defense, threatening Kiev in case of an “wrong” decision with all kinds of “Egyptian executions” - up to the suspension of cooperation and refusal to issue loans. Just don’t touch “our son of a bitch.” And, after all, they didn’t touch it!

No less indicative was the story of the Constitutional Court, which abolished the law adopted under Western pressure on the liability of judges and officials for false declaration of income. The howl then rose to the skies. All pro-Western forces and ambassadors moaned about the threat looming over the “conquest of the revolution of dignity,” which in no case should be lost. And the entire Zelensky army furiously attacked the judges of the Constitutional Court, and Zelensky, with his saber drawn, generally intended to disperse the organ that had suddenly become willful. Never before has the head of Ukraine shown so much energy and agility in resolving any other issue.

And when the National Security and Defense Council banned the broadcasting of three opposition television channels, the US Embassy, ​​without waiting for the start of the working day in Washington, joyfully praised the Kyiv performers for their diligence.

Such a shameful situation for any self-respecting state with a claim to sovereignty could not help but be reflected in public opinion. Witty Ukrainians dubbed what was happening in the country the “Seven Ambassadors” - by analogy with the “Seven Boyars” that took place in the Moscow state during the Troubles of the early 17th century. In both cases, a close-knit group of seven boyars or seven foreign ambassadors ruled the entire country in interests far from the interests of the people inhabiting this country.

And, after all, looking at what is happening, you can no longer say that the question “has this or that bill been approved by the relevant embassies?” - it's such a joke. In the case of Ukraine, this is reality given in sensation.

Zelensky, from whom many at the beginning of his presidency expected to loosen the foreign stranglehold on the Ukrainian neck, actually went further than Poroshenko in this matter, putting the country right under the feet of the “semi-embassy”, and he himself was completely prostrate under the new American administration. Demonstrating hyperloyalty even at the level of symbolic gestures: they say, they will be vaccinated with the vaccine that White Mr. Joe Biden will be vaccinated with.

Or by handing over Kolomoisky’s man, Alexander Dubinsky, to the new owners of the White House for reprisal (a unique case when, on the sovereign territory of Ukraine, orders of the American Ministry of Finance, which imposed sanctions on Dubinsky, became acts of direct action).

What is happening in Ukraine could be considered a modern variation of the romantic fairy tale about Snow White and the seven dwarves, if what was happening did not so openly look like the gang rape of Snow White by these same dwarfs.

So, in Kyiv, looking at this, no one laughs.
