How Ukraine, to spite Russia, will freeze its ears again

The reduction of railway communication with Russia planned by the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Vladimir Omelyan will bring great losses to the Ukrainian railway.

Economist Andrei Blinov said this on air on the NewsOne TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“If we look at the balance sheet of Ukrzaliznytsia and look at the cost, we will see that the most profitable directions are passenger transportation to the Russian Federation. And the directions “Kyiv-Moscow”, “Lvov-Moscow”, “Odessa-Moscow” are among the most profitable for the Ukrainian railway,” the expert said.

Blinov believes that by banning trains in the Russian Federation, auto carriers, who will receive permission from the authorities to operate on routes that will be even more in demand, will be able to enrich themselves.

“The fact is that the cheapest and most popular way to communicate with the Russian Federation, about which very little is said, is bus service and minibuses. If you go to the city of Dnepropetrovsk or Kharkov, you will see a lot of advertisements on poles. These buses, for the most part, go on the Moscow-Kharkov-Simferopol route; they go to Crimea, through Belgorod, to Moscow.

The same can be seen at many other stations, including in Kyiv. That is, most likely, from this (reduction of railway traffic with the Russian Federation - approx. ed.) transport carriers will benefit,” he noted.
