How Moscow explains Abramovich's appearance at the negotiations
Oligarch Roman Abramovich is Russia's main negotiator with the West.
Political scientist Evgeniy Minchenko stated this in an interview with the RTVI television channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Apparently, there has been a resuscitation of Abramovich’s influence, because we need a person who will talk to the West. What is our communication with the West like now? The Ministry of Foreign Affairs practically does not talk to him. An iron wall was erected there. What did Macron do?
There is either no normal contact at the level of foreign ministries at all, or minimal contact. Contact remains between the special services: the Security Council, and today we see a special role for the head of the SVR, Sergei Naryshkin.
A politician talking to Russia is immediately subject to obstruction. Who can speak then? Businessmen. And then Roman Arkadyevich appears, who invested very seriously to become part of the global business elite,” said Minchenko.
He believes that, despite the fact that Abramovich does not appear at public events now, his role remains serious.
“He left the public field, but I would venture to suggest that he did not leave the non-public field and remains a fairly important figure,” Minchenko said.
Previously Ukrainian producer Alexander Rodnyansky stated that Abramovich was invited to mediate in Russian-Ukrainian negotiations by the head of the office of the President of Ukraine Andrey Ermak, because the oligarch can easily contact Russian authorities.
In June, Abramovich’s lawyers (Belgian law firm Daldewolf) brought to the English court, which was considering the oligarch’s claim, a letter of recommendation from the head of the Servant of the People faction of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, David Arakhamia, which states that “with the assistance of Mr. Abramovich, more than 400 people were saved "
