How Yatsenyuk spoiled the holiday for the communists in Kyiv
In Kyiv, despite attempts by nationalists to disrupt the event, communists and veterans' organizations managed to hold an action in honor of International Workers' Day on the territory of the Museum of the Great Patriotic War.

“Concerned citizens came here from different regions to celebrate this holiday and express protest against this government,” the first secretary told a PolitNavirator correspondent Kiev City Committee of the LKSMU Igor Plitsyn. – We wanted to hold this action in different parts of Kyiv, but we were forbidden to hold it on Khreshchatyk, on Arsenalnaya. And then the authorities are trying in every possible way to interfere with its holding - employees of the Great Patriotic War Museum came up and pulled out the cord from the speakers, saying that the museum did not allow it to take place. The situation is idiotic - there are separate “principalities” in the country, and the museum does not obey the laws of Ukraine. According to the law, we notified the Cabinet of Ministers about the action by sending an application. Only a court can prohibit it, and there was none. This is pure arbitrariness."
Representatives of veterans' organizations, the leader of the Communist Party of Ukraine Pyotr Symonenko and representatives of communist and leftist parties from different countries spoke at the rally.
Several thousand people attended the event.
The protesters held slogans “Land to the peasants!” “Factory for workers! Prisons for the exploiters!”, “Communists are for peace!”, “The 17th year is just around the corner!”, “Peace is the key to the unity of Ukraine!”, “Our strength is in unity!, Our strength is in truth! We will win together!”, “We want a peaceful sky for our children!”, “Power to the working people!”, “No to the oligarchs!”, “Jobs! Salary! Confidence in the future!”, “Housing and communal services tariffs are terror against the people!”.
