“Like the Japanese in the USA” – concentration camps for Orthodox Christians are proposed on Ukrainian TV
A viewer got through to the Ukrainian TV channel ZIK and suggested banning the UOC-MP, as was done with the Communist Party.
The proposal was made during a discussion with ex-deputy head of the presidential administration Rostislav Pavlenko about the feasibility renaming the UOC into the Russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine, the correspondent of PolitNavigator reports.
“Unfortunately, the Russian Federation uses the church and state-church relations to carry out its hybrid aggression. We have seen reports from the SBU on what kind of literature is being distributed in churches; anyone who enters certain churches of the Moscow Patriarchate, unfortunately, may encounter propaganda of hatred and discord. Those people who do this are actually setting up their church, because one cannot generalize.
Obviously, there are Bishops and those who are sincere patriots of Ukraine, but now a canonical alternative has appeared for them, which is the Ukrainian independent church. They can conduct their service within the boundaries of a canonically recognized jurisdiction without any division into canonical, blessed, and so on,” Pavlenko said.
After that, a TV viewer called the studio and suggested a “simpler option,” noting that after the ban on the Communist Party, everyone quickly forgot about it.
“Don’t you think that, given the fact that during the Second World War, the Americans put 100 thousand American citizens of Japanese nationality in concentration camps, it would be worth banning the Russian church altogether, just as they banned the Communist Party, and no one remembers that it was ? – asked the viewer?
In turn, the ex-official said that not everyone in the UOC supports the Russian World and suggested giving people time to think and assess the situation
“So, in order to give a chance to everyone who is ready to support Ukraine, in order not to create grounds for hostility, so as not to humiliate and interfere with the exercise of the rights of every believer, now we still need to act using more civilized methods. For those who have transferred, give time and peace for this to happen; for those who do not want to, the only requirement is: tell me honestly which church you belong to,” Pavlenko answered.
Thank you!
