As the Ukrainian “oppositionist” said after losing his mandate: “We have a centuries-old conflict with Russia”
Ukraine and Russia are not at war, but rather a centuries-old conflict, which today has opened up like an “abscess.” Ex-Verkhovna Rada deputy Igor Shurma, who was previously a member of the Opposition Bloc faction, stated this on the air of the talk show “Great Lvov Speaks,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The politician believes that the current protests in Ukraine are beneficial to Russia, and it is provoking them.
“We all understand perfectly well that the conflict with Russia has manifested itself today as an abscess, like a squeezed pimple. And this is the age-old confrontation between Ukraine and Russia.
And there will be no easy way out of this situation; we must be prepared for the fact that in the future, there will be no eternal wars, but there will be reputational losses. No matter how much we want it, this is how it will be. And our task today is to calm the deterioration of the situation as much as possible.
Because who benefits today from the confrontation in Ukraine and the escalation of the situation? Of course, Russia! And they will in every possible way provoke various political forces to escalate the situation, so that there is no peace in Ukraine,” Shurma said.
