How Zakharchenko saved the Donetsk theater from starvation
In the fateful year for the DPR, 2014, the future head of the Republic, Alexander Zakharchenko, practically saved the staff of the Donetsk music drama. Advisor to the deceased head of the DPR, Alexander Kazakov, spoke about this at a meeting at Zakhar Prilepin’s farm in the Moscow region, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In the summer of 2014, the very good Donetsk Musical Drama Theater put on a very good performance – “Juno and Avos.” That is, despite the war, the theater continues to make premieres. Fantastic! I saw the first one with Karachentsov, I’ve been around for a long time. There was a premiere in Moscow, then they came to Riga, I saw them as a student. Donetsk was no worse, really no worse. Then all the primas left the theater for Kyiv. What social elevators! Young actors began to get leading roles, and they played great. They were ready for a long time, they were simply interfered with. The elites have left, and they are now new people.
They gathered in the theater, and their families were moved there because there was simply no food. In addition to the troupe, 200 people lived in the theater - families, children, they had a cafe there, they organized a kitchen, they cooked porridge in cauldrons.
Zakharchenko just came there, then the battalion commander of Oplota, saw this picture and put the theater on allowance. That is, the boys had a can of stew between them, and they also donated some of their allowance to the theater. Since then, entry to the theater has been free for the Oplot battalion,” Kazakov said.
Let us remind you that PolitNavigator previously reported that the head of the DPR, Alexander Zakharchenko, who died in the explosion, always supported cultural life. So, one of his last decrees concerned the fate of the Republican Art Museum.
