As the Crimean Majlis declared: “We have nothing to do with the blockade and the alliance with the Right Sectorists!”
The Crimean Mejlis members began to waver when they learned about the intention of the security forces to check the illegal organization for extremism. Thus, on the air of the Crimean Tatar TV channel ATR, which moved from the peninsula to Ukraine, the first deputy head of the Mejlis, Nariman Jelal, said that his organization is not involved in the blockade of the peninsula.

At the same time, Nariman Dzhelal did not deny the fact that the initiators of the blockade were the leaders of the Majlis - Refat Chubarov, Mustafa Dzhemilev and the owner of the TV channel Lenur Islyamov, explaining this by the fact that other “participants in public life” also joined them.
“The Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, or rather, the part of it that is located in Crimea, has no formal, legal or any other relationship to the civil blockade of Crimea, which is organized on the territory of mainland Ukraine. We are neither the organizers nor participants in this blockade. Today it has acquired a broader character, and various social and political forces take part in it. Therefore, accusing the Mejlis in Crimea of participating in the blockade is absolutely groundless. We have not committed and are not committing any illegal actions on the territory of Crimea,” Jelal said.
The day before, Zaur Smirnov, Chairman of the State Committee for Interethnic Relations and Deported Citizens of the Republic of Crimea. announced the prospect of banning the Majlis in Russia as an extremist organization.
“If agreements are concluded with those organizations that are banned in the Russian Federation, which is the Right Sector, then, naturally, the reaction of the security forces will not be long in coming,” Smirnov said.
Let us also recall that the coordinator of the blockade of Crimea, Lenur Islyamov, stated that the undermining of power poles supplying the peninsula was carried out by supporters of the illegal Majlis.
“I think this was done by our Crimean Tatars, who are leaving Crimea and who are tired of waiting. A lot of people came to us, they were unhappy, they said: “Stop having political conversations. They don’t hear you in Kyiv. We need to solve it in a more radical way. We must make sure that the supports lie down.”
