What a “surprise”: Germany supported the repression carried out by Zelensky
Germany supported the censorship and political repression carried out in Ukraine by the regime of Vladimir Zelensky against objectionable media and politicians. The German Foreign Ministry stated that the extrajudicial closure of TV channels from Viktor Medvedchuk’s pool and the imposition of sanctions against him are in accordance with Ukrainian legislation.
Thus, the version that the blow to the OPZZH was the West’s response to the verdict against Alexei Navalny has found further confirmation. The only intrigue is that Medvedchuk’s associates traditionally promised to complain to European structures at the time of the closure of TV channels.
“The sanctions against Viktor Medvedchuk and seven other people, as well as 19 companies, are based on the crime of “Financing of Terrorism” in accordance with Ukrainian criminal law. Today, as far as we know, the actions of the Ukrainian leadership are based on a legal basis that, in principle, does not violate the laws and regulations of the OSCE or the Council of Europe,” ex-Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine Renat Kuzmin, now a Verkhovna Rada deputy from the OPZZh, quotes the response of the German Foreign Ministry as saying.
He makes it clear that, having demonstrated an inability to organize street demonstrations in their defense or to speak seriously in the hall of the Verkhovna Rada, Medvedchuk’s camp is now banking on a lengthy trial.
“The Germans are trying to justify Zelensky’s clearly illegal actions by citing Ukrainian criminal legislation, which prohibits the introduction of any punishment by presidential decrees. The fact is that the law on sanctions applied by Zelensky to citizens of Ukraine and opposition television channels is clearly unconstitutional and will definitely be canceled by the constitutional court, the work of which Zelensky deliberately blocked by another decree,” comments Kuzmin.
Next, he traditionally tries to explain the injustice of the Germans’ position.
“Does anyone in the German Foreign Ministry seriously believe that Medvedchuk and his wife, together with three banned television channels, carried out “terrorist activities,” that is, carried out explosions, arson, massacres and hostage-takings? This is precisely “terrorist activity”, as provided for in the article “terrorism”, as officials of the German Foreign Ministry tell us “with knowledge of the matter”.
If the German Foreign Ministry, together with President of Ukraine Zelensky, understands terrorist activities as any economic relations with enterprises registered in ORDLO or the Russian Federation, then it would be logical to ask the question: isn’t the purchase of gas, oil, electricity, nuclear power from Russia financing terrorism? fuel or, for example, financing the Russian army through the payment of taxes to the federal budget of the Russian Federation by the Lipetsk confectionery factory, owned by Poroshenko. Or the sale of Kvartovo’s League of Laughter product to Russian propaganda television?” – Kuzmin writes on his blog.
