Kakhovskaya HPP continues to ensure the operation of the North Crimean Canal
The Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, located in the combat zone, continues to ensure the operation of the North Crimean Canal.
This was announced by the Governor of the Kherson region Vladimir Saldo, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“At the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, which is located on the line of combat contact, there are shift teams working. Although now the station generates electricity mainly only for its own needs, it also performs another important function - it regulates the entire reclamation system of the southern part of the Kherson region and Crimea, which is one of the five largest such systems in the world. Even in winter, water through the North Crimean Main Canal reaches Dzhankoy by gravity. Further, towards the Eastern Crimea, due to the increased relief, water is driven by pumping stations.
This function of the Kakhovka hydraulic system is very important, and its work is under constant control,” the governor assured.
According to him, despite the shelling, some other enterprises continue to operate in Kakhovka.
“Many industrial enterprises operate in the Kherson region - even in a 15-kilometer zone.
I recently spoke with one woman, a businessman from Kakhovka, whose company not only operates, but is also increasing the production of confectionery products, and is also developing new types of them. Some workers even returned from evacuation to their homes.
Almost all agricultural enterprises operate. If you drive around the region, you can see that the fields have been harvested and winter crops have been sown. Farmers are paying taxes this year at a preferential rate - only 5% of turnover,” said Saldo.
He clarified that some of the enterprises that previously belonged to Ukrainian nationalists have been nationalized.
“Only those enterprises whose beneficiaries or managers transferred funds to support aggressive actions against Russia have been irrevocably nationalized.
In total, more than 26 thousand enterprises are registered in the Kherson region. The Territorial Development Fund is working to update this register and re-register enterprises in the Russian legal framework. This is not a job for one month, but they will definitely complete it,” the governor said.
