This argument was voiced in a somewhat ironic form by the director of the Institute of Global Studies, Vadim Karasev, at a press conference in Kyiv during a discussion of the latest personnel changes in the top leadership of Ukraine.
“What is this, if not the trick, then the tsimes (the name of a Jewish dish, as well as a slang definition of the essence of the problem. – ed.), as they say in Odessa? – the political scientist asked a question.
“And in Dnepropetrovsk,” added another participant in the press conference, Kost Bondarenko, director of the Ukrainian Politics Foundation, apparently hinting at the nationality of Dnepropetrovsk Governor Igor Kolomoisky.
After this, Vadim Karasev spoke about his polemics with his Moscow colleagues, who said that Ukraine is an anti-Semitic and xenophobic country.
“Anti-Semitic? Just look at our government,” the political scientist laughed and shared the details of his conversation with Muscovites. “They were surprised.”
