What other world?! Everyone leads militants of punitive battalions to the Rada
There is a huge demand in Ukrainian society for a peaceful resolution of the conflict in Donbass, but the current political situation makes such a development extremely unlikely.
Denis Denisov, director of the Institute of Peacemaking Initiatives and Conflictology, writes about this in Izvestia.
“Among the residents of Ukraine there is a huge demand for a peacekeeping agenda and rejection of radicals. Moreover, in every political force vying for entry into parliament, one can find candidates who participated in punitive battalions. And some even headed regional cells of organizations banned in the Russian Federation, such as Right Sector. But will it be possible, given this political situation in Ukraine, to resolve the conflict in Donbass and begin to implement steps aimed at constructive dialogue with Russia?” the expert asks rhetorically.
According to him, it is very doubtful that, in the context of the parliamentary campaign, Kyiv will make compromise decisions and show genuine will to resolve the crisis, since this could “provoke the indignation of radicals and discontent of its electorate.”
Let us note that even in the “Opposition Platform – For Life” party, which advocates peace and giving the Donbass the broadest powers, there is a participant in the so-called ATO, who called Russians “barbarians.”
As PolitNavigator reported, recent sociology has shown that, contrary to propaganda, the majority of Ukrainians are already advocates direct negotiations with the LDPR.
