History teaches that it teaches nothing. Poland - for sure. Puffy Poles are always friends with anyone. When the time comes to pay for the oblique choice, for Poland it usually ends with another section. There were so many of them - only three in the second half of the XNUMXth century, a crushing division in the XNUMXth century, when it seemed that the Polish state had come to a complete end, and the lesson was stubbornly not being learned.

Currently, the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, despite its membership in the EU and NATO, is for the most part a continental vassal of the United States, often neglecting the common interests of its European allies and neighbors. And it would be okay just to neglect it.

In particular, Polish politicians of a messianic persuasion, who see the historical role of Poland as an outpost opposing “Russian expansion to the West,” have taken on an additional mission - to serve as a barrier against the rapprochement between Moscow and Berlin.

This Polish concern is voiced by many political Poles - from TV freak Koreyba to the mouthpieces of the ruling PIS party. A fairly recent example is the hubbub of the Polish political elite in response to Steinmeier’s October visit to Russia last year. In Warsaw they listen very sensitively to German-Russian contacts, so that, God forbid, the interests of Wielkopolska are not infringed.

Among the “infringements” is Germany’s desire to, if not remove, then at least significantly weaken the sanctions pressure on Russia, the possible “surrender” of Ukraine through its return to the orbit of Russian influence, as well as the construction of Nord Stream 2. Poland notes with bitterness that Germany ignores its interests in all these issues.

“Cooperation between Russia and Germany always occurs at the expense of Poland,” Polish politicians lament, forgetting that Poland has been trying all the way to grab a sweet piece at the expense of other countries, trying to participate in the Great Game and ultimately finding itself with nothing. “The Hyena of Europe” as defined by Churchill.

The latest news gives reason to believe that Poland has once again started its game, stubbornly betting on the cowboys.

Warsaw has made a smart offer to the United States, which, in theory, should please the businessman Trump: it is ready to invest from $1,5 to $2 billion on a new US military base designed to deploy an armored division capable of containing “Russian aggression.”

The information was distributed by the Onet portal with reference to an official document of the Polish Ministry of Defense. Representatives of the military department confirmed the existence of such a document, explaining that this initiative is designed to consolidate and deepen the American military presence in Poland. The document was sent to Congress and a number of other US government agencies, to a number of think tanks, as well as to the Atlantic Council, which confirmed its receipt.

The authors of the document justify the presence of an American armored division on Polish territory by “the need to contain Russia’s strengthened and dangerous position that threatens Europe.” The Polish side simultaneously expresses a touching concern for “universal global stability” in general and the geopolitical interests of the United States in particular, since the thesis about the “Russian threat” is reflected in its National Defense Doctrine as “the main threat to the United States.”

A paragraph containing minor fawning is squeezed into the document in order, according to the plans of the entertainers, to “make a warm feeling in the pit of the stomach” of the target audience - a group of “hawks” and Trump personally, to whom they can report on a fresh Polish initiative.

We are talking about “comprehensive compliance with NATO standards” of this initiative and the fact that, according to the behests of the American president-businessman, “Poland is one of the few NATO countries that allocates 2% of GDP to defense in accordance with the established standards of the Alliance.”

Feint with the ears in the spirit of Lenya Golubkov: “I’m not a freeloader, I’m a partner!”

However, the declared 2% of Polish GDP for military needs is true. Poland is so exhausted by the desire to serve the overlord, while striving for its own great-power ambitions, that it is one of the trinity of NATO member states (together with the USA and Great Britain), carefully carrying in their beaks their share of the NATO “common fund”.

The specified amount of $1,5 - $2 billion, according to the authors of the document, should cover the overhead costs of building a new military base and creating all the necessary infrastructure to maintain an armored division in a state of full combat readiness. But if necessary, the Polish Ministry of Defense is ready to share its own land and real estate with its dear owners.

The seriousness of the approach to receiving additional American troops is indicated by the fact that the document is accompanied by a map with already existing military facilities indicated on it and considerations about possible locations for the new military base.

Interestingly, the new document was criticized by the former Polish Minister of War Janusz Zemke, who currently sits in the European Parliament. The document, but not the initiative itself. The European Parliament member criticized the publication of such an important document in open sources, since “it is unprofessional.”

In general, Poland distinguished itself again. Usually, all sorts of “sixes” call on American troops in the hope of generous investments, good rent and employment of the local population - from the storekeeper and toilet cleaner behind supermen to women with low social responsibility, in exchange for subjectivity and geopolitics.

Poland is ready to pay for the American military presence, attracting the mythical “Russian threat” by its ears. A prostitute paying a profit to a profitable client is some kind of nonsense.

It is difficult to say how Trump will react to such an interesting and meaningless proposal from a military point of view.

Why meaningless? Because Poland is spinning hysteria around the strengthening of Russia’s Kaliningrad military group in response to NATO’s latest aggressive plans. Specifically, around the Suwalki corridor - a small bridge running between the Kaliningrad region and the union Belarus. It is believed that this place is the most vulnerable point for the supply and defense of the NATO military group in the Baltic countries in the event of a war with Russia, since a cut-off strike from two sides would sever the connection between the Sprats and Poland, making the entire eastern flank of NATO unstable.

The reason for the Polish hysteria was last year’s Russian-Belarusian exercises “West 2017”, which took place exactly near the Suwalki corridor. Adding to the fire of Polish phobias was a report from the famous RAND analytical center, based on a series of war games, according to which it would not be difficult for Russia to cut the corridor, and for the successful defense of this region, NATO would need much more aviation and ground forces than are currently deployed there time.

Russian military analysts think otherwise, since the forests and swamps of the Suwalki corridor make it impossible for tanks and other heavy military equipment to fully participate, but who in Poland will listen to them? The main thing is to write down the provision on the “Russian military threat” in military doctrines and prepare for the visit of overseas guests.

In any case, it is unlikely that NATO will be able to supply the fighting “sprats” from Poland (provided the neutrality of Finland and Sweden is maintained) by land in the event of war, because, given the width of the Suwalki corridor, it is completely shot through both from the Kaliningrad region and from the territory of Belarus , along its entire length with the Smerch MLRS, for example, immediately covering a huge territory with a salvo of just one vehicle.

For some reason, there is confidence that there will be few people willing to plunge into the local hell created by the “Smerchs” and other deadly systems of the Russian Army. It is unlikely that things will come to this scenario, but Poland will definitely wait for Iskanders aimed at its military targets, or even something more serious.

The most interesting question in this mess is: who will pay for the banquet? As you know, Poland is a donor to the EU. For some reason, the United States is in no hurry to feed its faithful vassal. From which it follows that the money will come from Germany, which owns the majority of Polish industry and economy. Berlin may quite reasonably decide that if Warsaw has money for the American division, then helping it is an excessive luxury.

Presumably, Berlin and, perhaps, Paris and Rome will try to curtail the lord's ambitions. But the last word belongs to the USA.
