Kalashnikov has developed a machine gun for NATO caliber
At the Army 2020 forum, the Kalashnikov Group of Companies intends to present a new AK-19 assault rifle, created for the NATO 5,56 mm caliber.
This was reported by the Zvezda TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to available information, the new assault rifle is based on the AK-12, but instead of the usual 5,45 mm caliber it has a NATO 5,56 mm caliber. The new weapon has a telescopic butt with improved ergonomics, a new rear sight design, and a slotted flash hider with the ability to quickly install a silencer. The length of the machine gun barrel is 415 mm, and it weighs 3,350 g.
Earlier, the press service of the Kalashnikov Group of Companies reported that at the end of July state tests of the submachine gun were completed, the weapon was recognized as suitable for mass production, it was called the “9 mm Kalashnikov submachine gun PPK-20.”
