Kaliningrad came under sanctions because of Crimea
A miniature park in Kaliningrad came under US sanctions because of a copy of the Crimean castle “Swallow’s Nest”. This was reported by the 360 TV channel.
“Recently, Apple notified us that it intends to block the audio guide application in the App Store, which we developed for the Miniature Park objects in the South Park of Kaliningrad. The reason is simple - we have a copy of the Swallow's Nest castle, which is located in Crimea. And therefore we fall under the sanctions of US law,” said the company’s development director Alexander Vetoshkin.
As PolitNavigator reported, in 2015, Apple stopped collaborating with application developers from Crimea. In addition, services for freelancers oDesk and Elance, as well as purchasing games through the Steam platform, were blocked for users from Crimea.
Economist Mikhail Delyagin previously proposed using the idea of VKontakte founder Pavel Durov on how to respond to Western sanctions over Crimea.
“Pavel Durov is skeptical about Russia, he went abroad. But he came up with a brilliant idea. Declare Crimea a territory free from repressive law - an intellectual offshore. Let the copyright of the countries that have imposed sanctions against Crimea not apply here. This will be a mecca for programmers.
True, Durov has business in the West. His post about Crimea was on the blog for only 20 minutes, then he deleted it. But there are quite a lot of such proposals for answers to the West,” Delyagin said.
