Coming out of an ATO militant: “Executions of civilians were attributed to separatists”
Participants in the Ukrainian punitive operation to suppress the Russian uprising in Donbass in 2014, once at the front, did what they wanted: robbed, shot civilians.
The famous Kiev nationalist and ex-ATO militant Dmitry Reznichenko stated this on the Magnolia-TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“A lot of people went to war out of desperation. And a lot of it is attributed to post-injury. In fact, man had nothing before the war. People went to war either to die or to return as heroes, because there was nothing holding them here.
I remember that in the first year there was no control, there were no internal investigation services - do what you want. And people, once at the front, did what they wanted,” noted the ex-ATO militant.
Reznichenko told about what crimes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the “ATO” he personally heard about.
“About the executions of civilians, who were later attributed to separatists. As I understand it, it was not to make money, but they were shot simply out of fear... There were robberies, entire battalions were engaged in this. “Holy Mary” acquired such fame for herself (battalion where Dmitry Korchinsky and deputies from Oleg Lyashko’s party fought - ed.), or “Tornado”... Nothing pleasant,” the radical nationalist concluded.
