Canada refused to help Ukraine
Canada supports Ukraine's sovereignty, but will not provide lethal weapons free of charge.
Ukrinform reports this, citing the agency’s available written response from the Canadian government to the report of the standing committee of the federal parliament.
“The Government of Canada is committed to supporting Ukraine in its efforts to support sovereignty, security and stability, but is not actively considering providing lethal support to Ukraine in the form of the donation of lethal weapons from one army to another,” the response said.
However, the document notes that the Canadian government “remains in close contact with the Ukrainian government regarding its request for military equipment.”
At the end of December last year, in the report of the Standing Committee of the Parliament of Canada on Defense, “Canadian support for Ukraine in times of crisis and armed conflict,” deputies called on the government to provide Ukraine with lethal weapons.
