Canada sold weapons to Ukraine “to contain Russia”
Ukraine has already purchased the first batch of Canadian-made sniper rifles from Canada. Ukrainian Ambassador to Canada Andriy Shevchenko said this in a conversation on Radio Liberty, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We have made progress, we have achieved the result we expected. There is the first batch of Canadian sniper rifles that arrived in Ukraine. For many years we have been trying to get Ukraine included in the document “List of countries with which small arms can be traded.” And this is already being converted into specific projects.
The first Canadian sniper rifles produced in the city of Winnipeg have already been purchased by Ukraine. They are already in Ukraine and I think that this is direct help in the sense that it is a weapon that can deter the enemy.
But this is also a powerful signal that shows that Ukraine has partners who will help us have the most modern weapons that we need to defend our country,” Shevchenko said.
