A candidate of Albanian origin for deputy prime minister of Montenegro spoke in favor of friendship with Serbia
Today's session of the Assembly of Montenegro, at which the candidacy of Deputy Prime Minister and leader of the URA civil movement Dritan Abazovic was discussed, turned out to be very stormy
The candidate from the alliance opposed to dictator Milo Djukanovic promised his supporters that when he came to power, he would imprison many of them.
“We want renewed relations with Serbia, we don’t want quarrelsome politics,” said Dritan Abazovic, an ethnic Albanian loyal to the Serbs. “If someone wants to implement something like this, then they have the opportunity to do it until tomorrow, until the vote on the new government is held.”
As a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, addressing deputies of Djukanovic’s party, the Democratic Party of Socialists, Abazovic said that their faction would no longer be able to drag the state into a “whirlpool of nationalism.”
He warned that the new government's diplomacy will not be political because Montenegro is a small country whose GDP mainly depends on tourism, and therefore, as he noted, good relations with neighbors are very important.
“This is a government of compromise, citizens do not need politicians, but prosperity, and when we have it, we will all be happy,” Abazovich noted.
Responding to criticism from nationalists regarding the composition of the new government, in which, in their opinion, there are no representatives of minorities (they see Serbs everywhere), Abazović noted that he himself is a representative of a minority (Albanian)..
“Are you talking about a mono-ethnic government? Do you have enough conscience? You - from the traffic police and criminal clans - turn people into targets. When you came to power in the 90s, war broke out throughout the region.
Your government, the president, who sat here seven times, was prime minister. He was an integral part of the policies that carried out deportations, war crimes and various actions that have nothing to do with these people in the new government because they were never in power.
When we come to power, I will personally make sure that many of you are brought to justice,” added the candidate for deputy prime minister.
Thank you!
