The candidate for mayor of Zagreb “gifted” the territories of Serbia and Montenegro to Croatia
A representative of the opposition Social Democratic Party, Joško Klisović, who is running for mayor of the Croatian capital, posted a map of Croatia “expanded” to include its neighbors in his campaign material.
Jutarnji list reported this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Candidate for mayor of Zagreb Joško Klisović sent out to his supporters a campaign pamphlet “Why the Prime Minister does not respond to the key problems of the country”, which shows a map of Croatia, although for some reason with Zemun, Sremska Mitrovica, Sid and the Fruška Gora National Park, which belongs to Serbia, and also Montenegrin Boka Kotorska.
“This is a stupid and unnecessary technical error,” Igor Dragovan, a representative of Klisovich’s headquarters, later justified himself for the incident. – Those responsible for this mistake have already taken responsibility. We move on."
The current borders of Croatia seemed tight to Klisović.
The fact is that, unlike representatives of nationalist forces, which include the Party of Democratic Action of the aforementioned Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic, the audience of the SDP is an electorate that is alien to xenophobia and the desire for conflicts with neighbors. Therefore, such prospectuses of Klisovich, which received about two thousand of his supporters, greatly surprised the latter.
It should be noted that similar “misunderstandings” occur periodically in the Balkans. In particular, on March 8, Deputy Prime Minister of Bulgaria, nationalist Krasimir Karakachanov congratulated women with a map on which the lands of Serbia, North Macedonia and Greece were added to Bulgarian territory.
