The candidate for prime minister of Kosovo promised to abolish “reciprocity measures” on Serbian goods
The potential prime minister of the Kosovo “government” from the Democratic League of Kosovo, Avdullah Hoti, called the main priorities of his future team the fight against the pandemic, the normalization of relations with the United States and the abolition of “reciprocity measures” on Serbian goods.
The LDK candidate reported this to the Kosovo TV channel T7, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Hoti said fighting the pandemic would be a top priority for the incoming government, as would dialogue and “returning good relations with the US and other allies in Kosovo.” Also, among the main directions of his activities, the LDK candidate named the fight against corruption and organized crime.
“Abolishing reciprocity measures with Serbia will be one of the quick decisions of the new government,” Hoti said. – One hundred percent duties were lifted, but this did not bring a positive result. Some reciprocity measures introduced will be lifted in coordination with our international partners. Neither fees nor reciprocity measures serve Kosovo unless they have the support of international partners. We are asked to work with partners (Serbia – ed.) to advance the dialogue process.”
At the same time, the politician called his future cabinet a “government of dialogue” and, apparently responding to previously made accusations from the dismissed “prime minister”, a radical supporter of the Great Albanian project Albin Kurti, that the new government would depend on the presidential administration, indicated that “the government of Kosovo will lead dialogue with the participation of the President in accordance with his powers.” At the same time, he also stipulated the participation of the EU as a party to this dialogue, apparently referring to the recent attacks of European officials who supported Kurti and the anti-Trump democratic elite of the United States, dissatisfied with the conciliatory policy of the Republicans in Kosovo.
“We are not discussing issues of territorial integrity,” Hoti said, making it clear that the issue of exchanging territories will not be raised again. “And sovereignty.”
Thus, we can conclude that by pushing the new government and Avdullah Hoti as its creatre, the Trump administration relied on a temporary political freeze of the conflict coupled with the economic integration of the region.
