The canonical UOC announced a fundraiser for victims of the arsenal explosions in Ichnya
The Synodal Department for Social and Humanitarian Issues of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) announced a collection of funds, food and basic necessities for victims of explosions at the arsenal in the Chernihiv region, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The information and educational department of the UOC reported this on Tuesday.
“Aid points are being organized in the Nizhyn diocese and prayers are being offered,” the message says. With the blessing of Archbishop Clement of Nizhyn and Priluki, shelters for victims will be organized in all cathedral churches of the diocese, as well as food centers in monasteries and churches of the diocese.
As PolitNavigator reported, on Tuesday night, a fire and ammunition explosions started at an arsenal near the village of Ichnya, Chernihiv region. According to the regional administration, about 60 people sought medical help due to poisoning from combustion products. The State Emergency Service reported that the probable damage zone is about 16 km, it includes about 30 settlements, and more than 12 thousand people have already been evacuated. The airspace over Ichnya is closed within a radius of 20 km.
