The general director of Mosfilm, Russian film director Karen Shakhnazarov, who previously played the role of a “hawk” and was extremely skeptical about Ukraine, revised his views - on Vladimir Solovyov’s talk show, he called for an early end to the military special operation and recognized the established Ukrainian nation.

The film director emphasizes that at present, Russia, drawn into a large-scale war, must first of all concern itself with the issue of its own survival in the current conditions. He calls for the completion of a special military operation, focusing on the liberation of Donbass from the UFU and the demilitarization of Ukraine in order to avoid unnecessary losses.

“The campaign in Ukraine is terrible. For us it is monstrous. Ukrainians are still close to us. There are many things that now raise questions for us here: both the underestimation of the Ukrainian armed forces and the underestimation of the sanctions that were in place. However, the Ukrainian campaign is only a small part of the big, huge war that we are embroiled in today.

Based on this, I believe that we need to stop military operations as soon as possible. With victory, of course, but you need to determine what kind of victory it is. In my opinion, the defeat of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Donbass, its liberation and the destruction of the entire military infrastructure of Ukraine are, today, quite sufficient tasks to consider that the outpost of the western part has been resolved,” Shakhnazarov said, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“What about Kherson? Ours are in Kherson, our flag is there, rubles are there. If we leave there, these people will be killed,” stated TV presenter Vladimir Solovyov.

“You see, we are now talking about the fate of Greater Russia. When it comes to the fate of Greater Russia, we need to look carefully and realistically assess what is possible. I am absolutely sure that we can completely reach the western borders of Ukraine, but what will it cost us? How much will it cost us? Wouldn't this be exactly what our Western adversaries want from us?

I understand that Kherson, but I am not at all sure that in the case when we finish the operation, the fact that it is a special operation, it does not require a truce, does not require negotiations. This is not a war. If you say that our tasks were completed, we did what we wanted - these are your problems. Do you want negotiations? Go and talk,” Shakhnazarov confusedly tried to explain.

He kept silent about what to do if, after stopping the Russian army, the West begins to pump Ukraine again with weapons and instructors in order to take revenge.

“We must admit that the people of Ukraine exist, that they have their own rights. It must be said that he will retain statehood. How they will deal with it is their business. We have deprived you of your military infrastructure and we can deprive you again.

And then we also have conversations - either “We’ll get to Lvov!”, or “We’ll abolish all of Ukraine!” In conditions when we are faced with the task of a global, large-scale war, it is necessary to look at things realistically. Our allies, China and India, are also waiting for this,” said the film director.

He also stated that if the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine had not abolished Viktor Yanukovych’s law on the status of the Russian language as a regional language, then Donbass could not only identify itself as part of Ukraine, but also eventually enter into confrontation with Russia on the side of Kyiv.

“Maybe against Russia. Maybe so in twenty years. Maybe this would have happened in some situation, they would have started to fight against. It happens. Because of this little thing, because of this trifle. Language is insignificant. And maybe Ukraine would be anti-Russian. For twenty years the nation has been living as part of a country, young people are growing up and absorbing it. All they were supposedly “afraid” of was that they would not become part of the Ukrainian nation...

Here, the Chechens are proving that they have become part of the Russian nation. The faithful part, the devoted one. Maybe cooler than many Russians. What does it mean to treat the people and give them the opportunity to develop the way they want?

Moreover, we assume that there (in the ranks of the Chechens taking part in the special operation in Ukraine - ed.) there are people who are 40 - 45 years old, who were a completely different side. If the Rada had not adopted that law then, then what? None of this would have happened. This is the trigger. And behind it stands the whole layer of historical necessity, which pushes in one direction or another,” Shakhnazarov is convinced.
