Karasev justifies Zelensky for his reluctance to investigate the “Odessa Khatyn”
The reluctance of the presidential faction “Servant of the People” to support the creation of an investigative commission to investigate the murder of Odessa residents by Maidan protesters on May 2, 2014 is explained by the situation in the Donbass.
This opinion was expressed in an interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda by Kiev political scientist Vvadim Karasev.
“It is obvious that today the presidential party and the president himself believe that it is too early to start such a commission. Why? Yes, because this would only create additional internal political tension,” Karasev believes.
According to him, for President Vladimir Zelensky and his team, the priority now is the disengagement of troops in Donbass.
“The party in power needs to focus on one thing. And so the resistance to Zelensky’s latest actions is quite serious – primarily from nationalist segments. And to give additional incentives to resist his decisions, including through the creation of an investigative commission, understanding that serious problems, serious facts that were unpleasant for the then leadership of Ukraine could be revealed... Now is not the time for this. That’s why we decided not to support it for now,” says the political scientist.
As PolitNavigator reported, the Verkhovna Rada refused to create a temporary commission of inquiry to investigate the mass murder of Odessa residents, who on May 2, 2014 were burned alive in the House of Trade Unions in Odessa by imported nationalist militants, coordinated by official Kiev. For the appropriate decision Only 79 deputies out of 389 present voted.
