Karasev realized: “LDNR will not be dissolved”
The conflict in Donbass will continue in a frozen state, since the conditions for integration into Ukraine, prescribed in the Minsk agreements, are interpreted differently by the participants and do not suit either side.
Ukrainian political scientist Vadim Karasev spoke about this on the NewsOne TV channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We look at the territories of ORDLO themselves. Fokin said (I don’t criticize him) that we need autonomy, our own government, an autonomous republic, parliament, etc. And in the Minsk agreements there is no autonomous republic, there are features of local self-government. You see, there is a difference between territory and terrain. We are talking about local authorities. Russia says that this is not a local government, but a special status, and Ukraine says that a special status is a local government...
Tell me, can Donbass agree today that they will dissolve the DPR and LPR and switch to local self-government? No, they won’t, because then the concept of integrating these territories into Ukraine from the point of view of Russia, the LPR and the DPR completely changes. Can we agree that they will enter there as the DPR and LPR, as territories (not as areas, but as territories)? Also no.
Which exit? Or somehow continue to coordinate, look for compromises, etc., elections. A very long process. Or a frozen situation for some time. Either then everything will be decided - either everything will be bad for us, and they will be able to impose their position, or everything will be bad for them, and then we will impose our position. This is the situation. There is no good way out of this situation,” Karasev said.
In addition, the political scientist noted factors aggravating the conflict.
“This is not Northern Ireland, because there we were talking about Ireland and England within the EU and NATO, these are allies in the bloc. The fact is that the problem of the DPR, LPR and Ukraine is also a problem of Ukraine and Russia. The problem of their relationship or the conflict between Ukraine and Russia. Our conflict. And someone says – war, national liberation war with Russia and so on,” Karasev emphasized.
