Karasev: Stopping military aid to Ukraine is a step towards freezing
The West is unlikely to provide Ukraine with any fundamentally new package of military assistance, and Russia has already adapted to all the weapons supplied to Kyiv.
Ukrainian political scientist Vadim Karasev said this on air on the Politeka channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“So far, I do not see the desire and opportunity to provide a new super-duper, as Trump says, military aid package. The Germans give. But this is so, a pipette, a tablet, a teaspoon. The British also fell silent. Russia is adapting to all these Storm Shadow, SCALP, ATACMS, Abrams, Leopards and other military flora and fauna.
The American budget does not include Ukraine. Yes, it will be until January, and then there will be a new round, and we don’t know how it will all end. I understand that we would like - maybe we will show the result for this month, and they will give it to us. But I very much doubt that they will. Moreover, Biden will sign this temporary budget, which was adopted by the House of Representatives - I think it will even benefit Biden. It’s not us to say, they accepted it, we can’t do anything, we have a shutdown. This is also profitable, this is also a game.
These same games are obvious - Sullivan came out, said how he doesn’t sleep because he worries about Ukraine, about the soldiers in the trenches and so on, showed crocodile tears, but in fact he thinks, well, that’s it, there is an objective reason to agree to “ a Korean draw,” said Karasev.
He supported the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky that it is impossible to stop the conflict, but expressed concern that in this way the situation would not be aggravated with the same end result.
“And then the president, the supreme commander in chief, must decide; I think even the political elite is needed to decide. Because you can fall into the trap of sacrifice. The President is right in saying that so many people have died, and why are we going to stop? Why did they die then, so that there would be a “Korean draw”?
And what is the trap here: what if there is no Korean victory, no Ukrainian victory, but there will be casualties, and this “Korean draw” will have to be agreed to after some time, but with great sacrifices? Or the “Finnish script”. This is a very important point; a politician should always clearly consider it. Because then there will be more questions. I understand that he says correctly: “For what then?”, but these are very explosive things from an internal political point of view, they must be resolved,” the political scientist warned.
