Karasev changes his shoes: “Don’t play with fire! Ukrainians will want to become part of Russia"
The policy of total Ukrainization pursued by the Kyiv establishment, dividing its people into “correct” and “pro-Russian”, will lead to the fact that sooner or later some of the people will actually cease to consider Ukraine their homeland.
Kiev political scientist Vadim Karasev, who previously supported the Maidan activists and had nothing against total Ukrainization, stated this on air on the 112 Ukraine TV channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We must understand that Ukraine is not an ethnic concept, but a geographical one. And for many it is ethnic. That’s why they begin to say that there is a “Ukrainian Ukraine,” which is ethnically pure, and there is a “non-Ukrainian or pro-Russian Ukraine.” Think about how absurd it is: “pro-Russian Ukraine.”
So you will play out with these narratives if you tell these people that they are not real Ukrainians, but some kind of pro-Russian ones. And they will think and say: “Where is our fatherland if they don’t respect us here and make us into some kind of strangers and “others.” Then our fatherland must be there somewhere.” And they, the so-called pro-Russian Ukrainians, [will decide] that their fatherland is Ukraine.
So don't play with fire. “Ukraine is not an ethnic or nationalistic concept, but a multinational and geographical concept,” Karasev urged.
