Karasev begins to see the light: How good it was under the USSR, it’s time to abandon the anti-Russian course
The population of Ukraine stopped mass emigration and grew only during the Soviet period. Both before the USSR and after gaining independence, Ukrainians left the country in search of a better life - this suggests that the government’s policies do not lead to economic growth.
The famous Ukrainian political scientist Vadim Karasev stated this on the Nash TV channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the expert, Ukraine needs to rebuild its independence, which will not be based on an anti-Russian project.
“We need to think about how to reinvent new policies. Both internal and external, by the way. Because you can say that we are going to the West, that we have good partners, but there is a real result - people leave, jobs are not created here, but we work for others... Before the Soviet period, many Ukrainians, especially from Western Ukraine, where There was poverty, there was no work, where did you go? Canada, USA and so on. The first wave of Ukrainian emigration from Western Ukraine,” the expert said.
“Then the Soviet period, Ukraine - 50 million citizens, we gained industrial potential, we built space rockets, military rockets, aircraft manufacturing, automobile manufacturing. Technological power. Yes, it may be outdated now, but at that time it was so. Then the Soviet period ends, we enter the independent period and the same thing happens as before the Soviet period. Only people are leaving not only from Western Ukraine, but also from Eastern Ukraine. This means something is wrong, then let's think about how we can reinvent or rebuild independence as it should be. Does it have to be anti-Russian or something else? Maybe it should be different?” Karasev said.
