Karasev: “The Russian vaccine resets the narrative about the aggressor country”
Ukraine cannot purchase a Russian vaccine against coronavirus infection, because this would mean the end of the anti-Russian line about the “aggressor country” that has been building since 2014.
Political scientist Vadim Karasev stated this on TV channel 112, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Karasev, in this case it will turn out that Russia, and not the West, saved the population of Ukraine, and this will completely shatter the myths about the eternal enmity and imperial ambitions of the Russian Federation.
“If we take a vaccine from an “aggressor country”, and this vaccine, from their point of view, God forbid, will show its effectiveness better than the American one - how can this be? It turns out that Russia is not a gas station, as he said John McCain, whose street was named in Kyiv, that Russia is saving us? She is an aggressor, and an aggressor cannot save Ukrainians from death.
You understand that then all these narratives, paradigms in which Ukraine and the current government have been forced to live since 14 go to hell - “Aggressor, squeezed out Crimea, annexed Donbass” and so on. Because then people will say: “Well, Russia saved us, to hell with Donbass, with Crimea.” It may be like that. This closes the gestalt about Russian aggression. Some people won't survive this.
The West will not survive this, because then everything changes. Then it is not our external partners who are the most important, who protect our country against the aggressor, help us with weapons, finances, and so on, but Russia performs the function. Then this entire ideological paradigm, this ideological, media bubble, all these narratives are effectively nullified,” Karasev said.
