Karasev: “Only now we realized that Putin has torn off the mask of hypocrisy from the West”
The Ukrainian leadership is just now began to realizethat the “Western dream” is just a myth - Kyiv’s foreign “partners” in fact turn out to be even more corrupt, unprincipled and cynical than post-Soviet countries.
Ukrainian political scientist Vadim Karasev said this on the YouTube channel “Politeka”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
“Previously, everything was clear - you are post-communist countries, you are backward, you are lost, you are on the wrong side of history. There is no other option; we must take the high road of civilization. It was understood that Western civilization was to live like in Europe, to live like in the West, to be successful, strong, transparent, not corrupt, honest, to play by the rules, to live by the rules. But this no longer exists,” Karasev said.
“Do you know who first started talking about this? Putin in a Munich speech in 2007. This is tearing off the masks of Western hypocrisy. In Munich, he did this, tore off the mask of hypocrisy from the West - that you are the same as us, we don’t pretend, but you pretend, you say that you don’t have corruption, but in fact there is more of it there,” the expert noted.
He emphasized that Ukraine has only now begun to understand what the Russian president said 14 years ago.
“In fact, yes, we say – Russia is the aggressor, Putin is the enemy, but today we are actually speaking the same language as Putin used in his Munich speech. And then Russia started, it was the first. Putin said - we wanted to learn from you, we wanted to learn from you, we made concessions, but you are expanding NATO to the East, you are undermining our security, you are sending in various foreign agents who are undermining our internal stability.
And 15 years pass, and our discourse is the same - you are just as corrupt, you abandoned us, you don’t want to fulfill your obligations, you are corrupt because you sold yourself wholeheartedly to Gazprom, what kind of moral teacher are you, you are not a teacher.” ,” Karasev summarized.
Let us recall that earlier in Kyiv they admitted that the signing of a memorandum between Westinghouse and Energoatom during the visit of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to the United States may mean that in the foreseeable future Westinghouse will gain control over Ukrainian nuclear power plants.
