Karasev thought that Crimea could go to Turkey
Ukraine should not count on the return of Crimea as a result of the collapse of Russia. Director of the Institute of Global Strategies Vadim Karasev stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

In his opinion, the theme of the struggle for Crimea will be used in the upcoming presidential elections in Ukraine - candidates will have to take into account the position of the Mejlis, which is banned in the Russian Federation for extremism.
“Candidates for the presidential elections will be forced to take into account the point of view of the Crimean Tatar people and the Majlis on the fate of Crimea. Taking into account political and lobbying media opportunities. There is the ATR channel, there is the Crimean Tatar community, Ukrainians from Crimea who today are forced to stay in Ukraine,” Karasev explained.
However, he admits, Kyiv has no real strategy for returning the peninsula, other than declarations.
“There is no politics. Ask a politician a question about Crimea - he won’t answer anything. He will say: “Well, we will increase the price of the occupation of Crimea.” But this is a journalistic answer, not a political and practical one. Therefore, it is very important which candidate formulates his vision of Crimea.
And not only in the sense of “we will wait until Russia falls apart, then we will return Crimea again.” Here the situation will be different - even when Russia falls apart, there is Türkiye there. It’s impossible to just go back to 2014,” Karasev said.
