Karasev: Kyiv will have to justify itself to the United States no matter the outcome of the elections
Since the last presidential campaign in the United States, Kyiv has managed to expose itself to both Democrats and Republicans.
Ukrainian political scientist Vadim Karasev said this on air on the NewsOne TV channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“What happened in the bottom line: the diplomatic defeat of Ukraine, the damaged image of Ukraine in the American press, especially with this confusion and the fact that in the foreign policy direction free shooters, free prosecutors allowed themselves to go beyond the scope of their official powers, traveling around many capitals of the world, handing over some incriminating evidence, some documents, and so on.
So it is now - the situation is quite complicated from the point of view of not only the internal American elections, but how they will end, and how this will affect relations between Ukraine and the United States. Our professional, qualified diplomats will have to level out this situation and somehow mitigate all these risks.
Because if Trump wins the presidential election, he will always be dissatisfied with Ukraine, believing that it was Ukrainian prosecutors and NABU officers who dragged the United States into this whole story with “Russiagate”, “Ukrainegate” and so on.
If Democratic representative Joe Biden wins, this story will constantly remind us of how the Ukrainian security forces, pushing aside their responsibilities for law enforcement in Ukraine, were actually engaged in working for one or another representative, Trump or his administration, or his personal lawyer Giuliani and etc.
So in both cases, we will have to somehow straighten out this whole diplomatic carousel,” Karasev said.
Thank you!
