Karasev: Russia will not fall apart - that means Crimea will remain Russian
Even if we hypothetically imagine the possibility of the collapse of Russia, this will not at all mean the return of Crimea to Ukraine, which will most likely go to Turkey, which Kyiv will not be able to prevent in any way.
Ukrainian political scientist Vadim Karasev stated this on the Politeka Internet channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Can Crimea really be the beginning of the end for the Russian Federation?” – asked the presenter.
“No, why? Many people have such hopes that Russia will disintegrate, and then all the problems of Ukraine will be solved. Well, firstly, if these hopes are realized, then it is not a fact that Crimea will become Ukrainian. Maybe it will become Turkish, maybe it will become Crimean Tatar under Turkish influence. And then who will protect, Ukraine or Russia? I don't think we are.
Second, Russia has always disintegrated not according to military criteria, but according to internal political criteria...Only internal sources, but so far I do not see conditions for Russia to internally disintegrate, from the point of view of political conditions. From a military point of view, Russia is unapproachable,” Karasev said.
He acknowledged the effectiveness of the Kremlin's fight against Western agents.
“There is a political problem, but you see how they cleared out all the agents - foreign agents, Navalny and so on, and everything is sideways. There were protests. It’s clear why the protests. Navalny’s problem is not that he is a street guy, but that he had support among the elites, part of the elites who wanted to make peace with the West relied on him. Those who wanted to switch back to comprador politics, as was the case in the 90s. But they cleaned it up, and that’s it. And now there are elections, and who is in the top five: Shoigu, Lavrov, that’s it,” Karasev listed.
